Kính thưa quý Phật tử đồng hương tham dự ngày đại lễ Vu Lan Báo Hiếu tại Chùa Pháp Nhãn,

Hôm nay, Chủ Nhật, ngày 21 tháng 8 năm 2022, Chùa Pháp Nhãn chúng con long trọng tổ chức Đại lễ Vu Lan Báo Hiếu, Phật lịch 2566.

Chúng con cung kính nghe rằng:

“Mỗi năm tháng Bảy ngày Rằm

Người con hiếu thảo siêng năng nguyện cầu;

Cầu cho cha mẹ sống lâu

Hướng dẫn con cháu nương nhau an lành.”

Cha là Phật, Phật hiện khắp nơi

Mẹ là Pháp, Pháp thật tuyệt vời

Con là Tăng, Tăng Đoàn hòa hợp

Cuộc đời mình luôn được thảnh thơi.

Cha là Phật hiện diện khắp nơi

Mẹ là Pháp thiết thực tuyệt vời

Con là Tăng sống đời an lạc

Đức hạnh Thầy tỏa sáng muôn nơi.

Thật vậy, hằng năm mỗi khi đại lễ Vu Lan trở về, những người con Phật dù sống ở những quốc gia khác nhau trên thế giới, đều dành thời gian thích hợp về Chùa nghe Phật Pháp và tham dự đại Lễ Vu Lan Báo Hiếu vui vẻ.

Theo văn hóa Phật giáo phát triển, lễ hội Vu Lan có nghĩa là ngày Phật hoan hỷ, ngày chư Tăng hoan hỷ, ngày nhận diện, bày tỏ, ăn năn, và sám hối của tự thân, ngày dâng y công đức Kathina cho chư Tăng, và ngày gieo trồng phước điền. Thêm nữa, ngày mà sau khi tham gia An Cư Kiết Hạ, chư Tăng Ni có thêm một tuổi đạo, và Vu Lan cũng là mùa lễ hội báo hiếu mẹ cha.

Theo quan điểm của đạo Phật, trong Kinh Tăng Chi bộ, Đức Phật dạy cho chúng ta biết rằng cha mẹ là hai đấng Phạm Thiên. Nếu chúng ta hiếu kính và phụng dưỡng mẹ cha chu toàn, thì chúng ta sẽ được an vui và mọi người sẽ khen ngợi và quý trọng chúng ta.

Năm nay, Chùa Pháp Nhãn có đủ duyên lành tổ chức đại Lễ Vu Lan Báo Hiếu nhằm giúp chúng ta biết về ý nghĩa uống nước nhớ nguồn, tri ơn và báo ơn của những người con Phật đối với sự sinh thành và dưỡng dục của Cha Mẹ.

Dear the Venerable Masters, Dharma Sisters, and Brothers, jointly attending the great Ceremony of Filial Piety Vu Lan – Parents’ Day at Pháp Nhãn Temple.

Today, Sunday, August 21, 2022, our Pháp Nhãn Temple solemnly celebrates the great Ceremony of Filial Piety Vu Lan – Parents’ Day, Buddhist calendar 2566.

We respectfully hear that:

“Every year, the Full Moon Day of lunar July

we, the filial children, diligently say wellbeing prayers;

Pray for our parents living long in order to

Guide us and our children to rely on peacefulness together.”

“The Father is the Buddha who appears everywhere

The Mother is the Dharma which is so wonderful

We are the Sangha that are harmonious

Our lives always get relaxed.

The Father is the Buddha who is present everywhere

The Mother is the Dharma which is practical and wonderful

We are the Sangha living a peaceful life

Our teacher’s virtue shines in all places.”

Indeed, every year when the Great Ceremony of Vu Lan – Parents’ Day comes back, the Buddha’s children, despite living in different countries in the world, spend the proper time going to the Temple to listen to the Buddha Dharma and attend the Great Ceremony of Filial Piety Vu Lan – Parents’ Day happily.

According to the developed Buddhist culture, Vu Lan festival means the happy day of the Buddha, the happy day of the Sangha, the day of recognition, expression, and repentance of self-mistakes, the day of offering merit Kathina robes to the Sangha, and the day of cultivating the merit field. Additionally, the day after attending Vassa Vassa Retreat – summer or rains Retreat, the Sangha has one more age in the Dharma, and Vu Lan is also the festival season of filial piety to parents.

According to the Buddhist viewpoint, in Aṅguttara Nikāya, the Buddha teaches us that the parents are two Brahmas. If we filially and respectfully serve our Parents thoughtfully, we will be happy and everyone will praise and respect us.

This year, Pháp Nhãn Temple has enough wholesome conditions to hold Vu Lan – Filial Piety – Parents’ Day to help us know about the meaning of drinking water to remember the source, being grateful, and repaying the gratitude of the Buddha’s children toward the Parents’ birth and upbringing.
