Sách ảnh nghệ thuật “Tuệ giác Phật giáo: Nhân phẩm và Hòa bình” ra đời trong bối cảnh Đại lễ Phật đản Liên Hợp Quốc 2025, sự kiện Phật giáo quốc tế trọng đại, được tổ chức tại Học viện Phật giáo Việt Nam tại TP.HCM từ ngày 6–8/5/2025 nhằm đánh dấu ba mốc lịch sử thiêng liêng:

• Kỷ niệm 80 năm thành lập nước Việt Nam (1945–2025),

• 50 năm thống nhất đất nước (30/4/1975–30/4/2025) và

• Giáo hội Phật giáo Việt Nam vinh dự đăng cai Đại lễ Vesak LHQ lần thứ tư.

Đây không chỉ là dịp hội tụ tâm linh của 1200 đại biểu quốc tế đến từ 80 quốc gia và 5 vùng lãnh thổ, và hàng ngàn Tăng Ni, Phật tử và trí thức Phật giáo Việt Nam, mà còn là cơ hội khẳng định vai trò lãnh đạo trí tuệ, nhân ái, hòa bình của Phật giáo Việt Nam trên thế giới.

Sách ảnh này là kết quả của cuộc thi và triển lãm ảnh nghệ thuật do Viện Nghiên cứu Phật học Việt Nam và Hội Nhiếp ảnh TP.HCM đồng tổ chức.

Tập hợp gần 300 tác phẩm ảnh xuất sắc nhất từ hơn 1600 bức ảnh gửi về từ mọi miền đất nước, sách này khắc họa sinh động hành trạng, nghi lễ, đời sống tu tập, tinh thần nhập thế và dấu ấn văn hóa Phật giáo hiện diện sâu sắc trong cộng đồng Việt Nam hôm nay.

Dưới góc nhìn của giới chuyên gia nhiếp ảnh, sách ảnh này không chỉ là album lưu niệm sự kiện, mà là tập đại thành về nghệ thuật nhiếp ảnh Phật giáo đương đại.

Các bức ảnh đoạt giải và trưng bày triển lãm thể hiện trình độ kỹ thuật cao, khả năng nắm bắt khoảnh khắc độc đáo, kết hợp giữa ánh sáng, bố cục, biểu cảm để truyền tải trọn vẹn thông điệp tâm linh và giá trị nhân văn.

Dù là hình ảnh trang nghiêm của lễ Phật đản tại Việt Nam Quốc Tự, khung cảnh hoa đăng huyền nhiệm trên đỉnh núi Bà Đen, hay nét từ bi nhân hậu của nhà sư Khmer dạy chữ cho trẻ vùng sâu, tất cả đều cho thấy sự giao hòa giữa nghệ thuật thị giác và tinh thần Phật pháp.

Tuyển tập cho thấy diện mạo đa sắc của Phật giáo Việt Nam trong kỷ nguyên hiện đại, năng động, sáng tạo và đầy cảm hứng nhập thế.

Từ hình ảnh các sư trẻ học IT trong thời đại số, Tăng Ni tu học nghiêm túc sau đại dịch Covid-19, đến việc Tăng Ni tham gia hiến máu, cứu trợ lũ lụt, gieo hạt từ bi trên đồng ruộng biên giới.

Tất cả đều cho thấy Phật giáo không đứng ngoài dòng chảy xã hội, mà là nguồn cảm hứng đạo đức cho sự phát triển bền vững và bao dung.

Không chỉ có giá trị nghệ thuật và tư liệu, sách này đóng vai trò như cẩm nang hình ảnh truyền cảm hứng cho các thế hệ tương lai.
Qua ánh mắt ngây thơ của các Tăng, Ni trẻ trong lễ tốt nghiệp Phật học, hay nụ cười hồn nhiên của cộng đồng Phật tử thả hoa đăng trong đại lễ Vu-lan báo hiếu, ta cảm nhận được sức sống của đạo Phật trong đời sống thường nhật, sự tiếp nối của tâm linh và di sản văn hóa từ thế hệ này sang thế hệ khác.

Với tinh thần ấy, Ban Tổ chức tin rằng tập sách này không chỉ phục vụ cho mục đích chiêm ngưỡng, mà còn là đóng góp giá trị vào việc xây dựng hình ảnh quốc gia Việt Nam giàu bản sắc văn hóa, khoan dung và yêu chuộng hòa bình.

Những tác phẩm ảnh trong sách là minh chứng rằng khi nghệ thuật và tâm linh gặp nhau, chúng ta có thể chạm đến trái tim nhân loại, vượt qua mọi ranh giới của tôn giáo, địa lý và thời đại.

The photography book “Buddhist Wisdom: Human Dignity and Peace” emerges in the sacred context of the United Nations Day of Vesak 2025—an internationally significant Buddhist celebration to be held at the Vietnam Buddhist University in Ho Chi Minh City from May 6 to 8, 2025.

This year’s Vesak marks three momentous historical milestones:

• the 80th anniversary of the founding of the modern Vietnamese state (1945–2025),
• the 50th anniversary of national reunification (April 30, 1975–April 30, 2025),
• and the fourth occasion on which the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha has been honored to host the UN Day of Vesak.

This event is not only a spiritual gathering of over 1,200 international delegates from 80 countries and five territories, alongside thousands of Vietnamese monastics, lay Buddhists, and scholars—it is also a compelling affirmation of the intellectual, compassionate, and peace-promoting leadership role that Vietnamese Buddhism plays on the global stage.

This photobook is the fruit of a nationwide photography contest and exhibition jointly organized by the Vietnam Institute of Buddhist Studies and the Ho Chi Minh City Photography Association. Compiled from over 1,600 submissions, it showcases nearly 300 of the finest photographic works from across the country.

These images vividly portray the monastic path, ritual traditions, devotional life, socially engaged Buddhism, and the profound cultural presence of Buddhism in contemporary Vietnamese society.

From the perspective of photography professionals, this collection is not merely a commemorative album of a global Buddhist event—it is a comprehensive compendium of contemporary Buddhist photographic art.

The award-winning and exhibited images demonstrate remarkable technical sophistication, an ability to capture fleeting and sacred moments, and a masterful integration of light, composition, and emotion. Whether depicting the solemnity of the Buddha’s Birthday celebration at Vietnam National Monastery, the mystical radiance of lanterns on Bà Đen Mountain, or the gentle compassion of a Khmer monk teaching children in remote villages, these photographs reveal a profound synergy between visual artistry and the spiritual essence of the dhamma.

This volume also reflects the vibrant and multifaceted face of Vietnamese Buddhism in the modern age—dynamic, innovative, and deeply engaged with the world.

From young monks studying information technology in the digital era, to diligent post-pandemic training of bhikkhus and bhikkhunīs, and from blood donation drives and disaster relief efforts to the symbolic sowing of compassionate seeds in borderland rice fields—these images testify that Buddhism does not remain aloof from society. Rather, it inspires ethical engagement and contributes meaningfully to inclusive and sustainable development.

Beyond its artistic and documentary value, this book serves as a visual inspiration for future generations.

Through the innocent gaze of young monastics graduating from Buddhist universities, or the joyful faces of devotees releasing floating lanterns during the Ullambana festival of filial piety, readers will encounter the living spirit of Buddhism in daily life—an enduring transmission of spiritual legacy and cultural heritage across generations.

With this spirit in mind, the Organizing Committee believes that this book is not merely an object of aesthetic appreciation; it is a meaningful contribution to the portrayal of Vietnam as a nation rich in cultural identity, tolerance, and a deep commitment to peace.

These photographs stand as living proof that when art and spirituality converge, they can touch the hearts of humanity and transcend all boundaries of religion, geography, and time.

We express our sincere gratitude to the contributing photographers—those who have captured the sacred essence of Vietnamese Buddhism through eyes of wisdom and hearts of compassion.
